Great Instructional Video
This is the reason I love bloggers. The amount and diversity of content that is being produced amazes me. Today is was thinking about how I would go about making a video that describes how to use our platform for bloggers. Before I spent a ton of time on it I decided to do a search and see if someone had already done my work for me... surprise surprise... someone did. That person is Jack Spirko of Marketingice.com, a Postie and prolific blogger obsessed with creating quality content. Below is one of the videos he created, there are a few in his PayPerPost series.

Jack is a smart guy. He has created content about how to use PPP and provides that content along with our affiliate badge encouraging people to sign up. Great idea, show people how to use the system then provide an easy way for them to do sign up on the same page. Jack will get money for each person he refers.

Speaking of our referral program, I still see a lot of the older PPP affiliate badges out there and I think that old badge is a little ugly. There are a ton of new badges in different shapes, sizes and colors in the affiliate tools section of the site. Click on the affiliate tools tab, then click on referral program. Here is a sample of some of the new badges:

In addition there are new Review My Post badges as well. I like the smaller size myself.

The new colors can be used to coordinate better with your blog.

As being discussed on the forums, the affiliate badges are NOT working correctly. They are not recording that people are signing up under us.

I agree with Lisa. Since February I received two emails telling me update my badges' script twice...in the end what happened? I'm not yet paid with the "one" sure referral I had who signed up and is now actively writing & getting paid by PPP. I don't how many others who did the same thing. :( I've written to Karen many times. No reply at all.

I agree that the badges aren't working correctly. I wish they were, because I'd put them everywhere. Heck, if they worked, I'd even put one on my dog.

(For all animal lovers:That's a joke.)

Jack did a GREAT job of his video.

I wish I'd seen that when I was first starting to write opps as it would have been a huge help. It gives nearly ALL the info required to get started.

Wading through the Forum topics took hours - sure I learned a lot (not always correct info though) and got a good feel for how other posties were handling situations, but a professional video presentation like this tells the whole story in a way which is easy to understand!

I hope PPP will consider a whole series like this for new posties :)

Er, sorry to say this here, but Zookoda's offline. Was wondering what's going on.

That is a very informative video. I can't wait for part two. I'm wondering if he'll show how clicking on 'take this opportunity' often results in the RLOD.

One thing that caught my attention was when he mentioned the countrackula code. While advertisers get to learn about the hits to their opp, has PPP ever considered let bloggers know this same information? It would be helpful to know how well our posts are doing in terms of hits. Just a thought...

I tried adding the badges to my MySpace account. No, I don't like MySpace, but I have the account so I figured I'd put up a PPP badge. However, no matter what I do, it will not work. MySpace blocks the code. Is there any badge code that doesn't use the snipurl's? I'm thinking that might work.

What happened to Zookoda? It died, and it took our site down with it--anything after the form didn't load, including site logging, and all our AdSense ads. When it comes up I'm reading the TOS to see if a small claims lawsuit is in order.

I thought those idiots at Quivalent were incompetent and over their heads. You guys seem to be worse.

How about an e-mail heads up before you screw up your system?

I'm out of here the minute I get the time to research another solution.

Yup, I gotta agree with the top few posts. The badges ARE NOT working as they should be. I don't care if you say you have to clean out your cookies. I do that on a daily basis and the hits doesn't change even though I KNOW for a fact, others from their own computers, are clicking on the badge.

It's quite annoying, and we even have a topic on the forum about it. No matter what solutions are being provided, it STILL does not work.

I'm not sure if it's just the badges or the referral/review me process as a whole. I have had over 15 people sign up through both- I have yet to be paid for anything. I emailed support, Karen replied that no one had followed through. I find it very difficult to believe that out of all of those people NO ONE followed through on any of it. At least ONE should have. I have no way of checking because I have no idea who any of the people are. As for having a cleaner look and matching our blogs? Isn't it a personal preference? Besides, until I change my theme the newer badges do not go with my page.

Hi Jack Spirko Here, thanks for posting about our videos and Marketing ICE. Right now I am reworking the entire PayPerPost series for Posters, Advertisers and Affiliates. We are redoing them mainly because many new features we not available when we shot them and I want all the new segmentation stuff included.

This content is mostly kept for our paying members at MarketingICE but I would be happy to make these videos available for use by PayPerPost for all their users for free. I would ask only that they be housed in the dash board sections of PayPerPost so you at least had to have a PPP account to view them so it does not detract from the value of our paid content.

I made these videos mostly because I had a bit of trouble on my first post and made bigger mistakes when I wrote my first opportunity. I figured if they gave me problems then many less experienced folks might be a lot more confused.

Anyway, who can I chat with a PayPerPost about getting these videos to you, I plan to produce them tomorrow?

Also fellow posties keep an eye out Marketing ICE is about to put out a lot of opportunities for posties to blog about. When I first started posting I quickly realized that PayPerPost was a great deal not just for bloggers. As an advertiser I have gotten a massive return on my investment as well.

Oh I should also point out we have full training at setting up and advanced functions of both hosted wordpress blogs and blogger. With blogger we even have videos on how to set up a custom domain so you can get past the advertisers who don't want dot blogspot domains.

Thanks again for the post!

Jack Spirko
