100,000 Posties. We're Growing Faster and Faster!

At the beginning of this year I sat down with the team and set a goal of having 100,000 Posties by Janaury 1, 2008. 100,000 Posties?!? At the time we only had around 11k and the growth rate didn't indicate that was necessarily achievable. The team agreed to my seemingly unattainable goal and whispered, "this guy is crazy" under their breathe.

I am not going to say they weren't right about the crazy part. I knew it was going to be a major undertaking and over the past year we have worked very hard at getting the word out about PayPerPost. Of course we couldn't do it all alone. We owe a lot of our growth to our loyal Posties and Advertisers, you guys are awesome and represent the best community on the Internet.

Our good friends Michael Arrington and Jason Calacanis have also done a stellar job of driving traffic and making sure the entire blogosphere knows our name. We simply couldn't afford that type of advertising if we had to buy it. I really need to find some time to write these guys a thank you card or send a fruit basket.

This week we crossed the 100,000 Postie threshold and I couldn't be more excited. Not only is our community growing, it is growing faster and faster (see below).

postie_growth.jpg

That's 100,000 Posties representing just about every blog platform out there and tens of thousands of unique domains. We have blogs about knitting, surfing, acting and everything in between. We've even got a few cats and dogs that blog (I wish my dog was that smart).

We are working hard to keep up with the demand of the ever expanding network. We have been adding additional resources, hardware and sales staff to bring on more Advertisers (12,500+ and counting).

PPP has definitely hit some bumps over the past year. We are constantly dealing with new challenges and struggles both internally and externally. But through it all we have achieved some tremendous things and I couldn't be more proud of our team and our community.

You guys are why I do what I do and love every crazy minute of it. Let's hope to break 250,000 Posties in 2008. Party at my house when we hit it... Colleen is buying the beer!

Congratulations to all it's been a pleasure working with IZEA and all of you Posties. To all those Posties that are concerned that more Posties mean less opps it will be quite the opposite. Advertisers follow eyeballs the more Posties the more advertisers and better quality opps. Spread the word about PayPerPost and SocialSpark as my team is motivated to deliver for all of you!

This is a truly significant milestone. By hitting what major advertisers will begin to see as a "critical mass" with the continued growth of the network - including the ability for those advertisers to work with a larger number of bloggers blogging to specifically targeted lifestyles and interests - deal sizes and quality of opportunities will continue to improve. And with the introduction of Social Spark, with its groundbreaking metrics, functionality and transparency...this rocket is about to blast-off to new heights in the Blogosphere and the world of conversational marketing!

Congrats to that big achievement :-)

However I have another important subject for ALL bloggers and it will certainly affect many of your payperpost bloggers!

Please help spreading this, since it’s affecting us all:
Blogger sucks more than ever not allowing extern blog links

At least go here and request the feature back:
Blogger Help submit a Request

(Scroll down to “suggest a new feature” and write that you request the extern link feature in comments back!)

Congratulations Izea team! I remember back in July at BlogHer, Joe and Robb were excited about hitting the 60,000 mark!

And it sure was swell of Arrington to quote my forum comment and call me "pathetic", I had my best traffic day ever :)

congrats :D without me you'd still be at 99,999 OR you would have to wait longer to hit the 100k mark lol :D

When RedHat went public they gifted Linus shares of the company instantly making him rich. In the beginning without Linus there would not have been a Linux. So... is Mikie A. receiving a gift for all the traffic sent to PPP.

Congratulations on hitting 100k and I'm quite sure that the efforts put into keeping your currently happy Posties happy in the future will translate into Izea hitting next next target on time.
