While it will likely be quite some time before it's determined whether or not the world record yo-yo was actually broken (Guinness has to review video footage, etc.) this past Saturday, it's safe to say the turnout was a huge success! Even though rain threatened the whole time. (I probably shouldn't share this but I overheard a history center employee say at the beginning of the day they had 2,500 yo-yos, and by the start of the yo-yoing they had all been handed out.)
There were many local vendors attending and it was a great opportunity for IZEA to represent as a downtown Orlando company. While we were setting-up Britt & I even got some free samples of delicious smoothies, compliments of Maui Wowi.
I had the pleasure of walking around taking photos of all the yo-yoers, and wanted to share a few of them here. You can visit our Flickr profile to view all the photos that were taken.

This morning I was online catching-up on the news--both national and local--and came across a story on a local site about the yo-yo event we sponsored yesterday. While there's no specific mention of IZEA in the article, there is video posted on OrlandoSentinel.com in which you can see the IZEA tent and several IZEA teammembers!

Late last Friday afternoon Travis enlisted the help of the IZEA team for a "special" project he wanted to put together. Most team members participated -- not all made the final cut (including yours truly....you can't see me but I'm frowning). Following is the edited result, for your viewing pleasure:
I meant to announce this yesterday but the day quickly got away from me. I had a blast looking through all the blogs. It was a difficult decision to make, so difficult in fact that I have decided to add two postie bloggers instead of just one. The lucky posties are..... (drum roll please).
Ben Spark and Skeet!
I am really excited to have these two join us. I think they can both add a unique perspective to the blog. Moving forward we are going to switch out our guest bloggers every six months. For this six months it will be Mr. Fab, Ben Spark and Skeet along with special posts from David Ponce of OhGizmo. Later in the year we will open back up and bring in some fresh faces. I hope we see some videos from Fab and photos from Ben Spark in the coming months.
I would like to thank all of you who posted and contribute to the blog on a regular basis. You peeps are what makes this community great.
Today's IZEA Loco rocked the house! We had a blast sharing our team pot luck with all the folks watching our live stream, and look forward to future shows.

It's in the heart of downtown Orlando, and somewhere around 1,000 yo-yoers are expected to be participating. If you're a Postie or Advertiser in-or-around the Central Florida area we'd love for you to come out and meet us! We're hoping most of the IZEA team will be there but Ted, Britt and I will be there for sure.

On the last Friday of every month, we celebrate the arrival of new employees, employee birthdays, and annivesaries. We also announce the winners of Employee RockStar of the Month, Postie of the Month, and Advertiser of the Month. We call it IZEA Loco!!
Ted decided that to kick off 2008 with an extra "wow!", we'd designate a Mardi Gras theme for January's celebration!
Here I am with Ted, our designated Mardi Gras King. We may even walk the streets of downtown Orlando later today just for the fun of it.
At 2 pm this afternoon, we are interviewing a Software Developer candidate. I told Trevor that he'll get extra points if he doesn't get scared.
One thing that I love about working with everyone here..... it's never boring! And for someone who's been in HR for over 20 years, I can also say that it's the most dynamic, fun company in which I've ever worked. The people here are amazing, both as professionals and as genuinely decent human beings.
