Archive: Conferences & Tradeshows
Remember our trek across the country last year, on the Blog America Tour? Well, we're on the road again; it's not quite as ambitious as driving from Orlando to Las Vegas but just as fun. Yesterday Ted and I headed up to New York City to meet-up with InternetGeekGirl and a slew of other Social Media enthusiasts for the first let of the Affiliate Summit Party Bus trip! Destination: the Affiliate Summit conference in Boston.
Below are some photos of the trip. We'll post more after the conference is over on Tuesday, and we travel back to New York.

Please welcome these two fantastic sites into the IZEA Community!

We held in event this past Wednesday in Chicago called Agency Bootcamp on Social Media. IZEA partnered with some of the social media heavy weights MySpace, Facebook, Bebo and CafeMom. The event was designed to be an educational forum to inform advertising agency planners, buyers and strategists, and marketers on how to effectively market, engage, start conversations about brands, products and services. We had 191 people register for the event online and had a turnout of around 120.
The feedback from the partners and attendees was the Agency Bootcamp was a
huge success!

Michael Brito Social Media Manger of Intel was the moderator and the panelists included our own Ted Murphy, Tom Arrix, Facebook, Bryce Emo, MySpace, Kent Austermann, Bebo and Andrew Shue CafeMom. You may recall that Andrew played Billie on Melrose Place and his sister is Elizabeth Shue known for her roles in Leaving Las Vegas and Back to the Future.

Though the site isn't live yet we've had one significant session change, that you might be interested in. We've dissolved the "Fab Four" Postie panel, and are replacing it with a panel session titled "Big Money Bloggers." And you're not going to want to miss this one! Several powerhouse personalities will show attendees how they can make mucho money with their blog! Check-out who we've already got confirmed:
- Stephanie Agresta (Internetgeekgirl.com)
- John Chow (JohnChow.com)
- Neil Patel (Pronet Advertising)
And guess who's going to be moderating the panel? None other than our very own Postie BenSpark. Yup, he took the time to create and submit a video for the "Fab Four" panel, and his reward is to moderate. Check-out his video submission:
Be on the lookout for the IZEAFest website soon. In the meantime, feel free to join-up with the community we've started over on Eventful.com. You can interact and engage with other bloggers who are attending, and get more information on our confirmed speakers.
What an exciting day for the team! SocialSpark is now available to the general public as a beta site. This picture says it all! We seem to be missing some folks from our team picture; Ted, Randy, David and Travis from RockStartup are out in San Francisco releasing SocialSpark at ad:tech. How exciting for all those attending today and tomorrow. If you are lucky enough to be out there stop by the booth #6163.

IZEAFest planning is coming along well. I previously announced that Shoemoney will be keynoting one of the days and Loren Feldman will be running a session as well. In addition we have confirmed some other great speakers. I am pleased to announce that Christopher Schmitt has joined the Extreme Blog Makeover Panel. Chris has authored three books, including the CSS Cookbook.
Chris will be bringing some books as door prizes. He is a very likable guy... I am sure he will sign yours if you ask : )

Here is a brief summary of the session:
Three designers (including Chris) will sit on a panel together. For the first 30 minutes of the presentation they will ask for blog URLs from the audience and deconstruct them on the spot, making recommendations for improvement. Feedback will be focused on design aesthetic, branding, usability, information architecture, css and seo. The last 30 minutes will be broken into 3 individual presentations by each of the speakers.
Each speaker will be provided with a blog URL in advance. The speaker will create a 10 minute presentation about the blog's strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the presentation the speaker will do a reveal, showing the new design of the blog (either as a comp or fully coded page). The blogger who owns the URL will be able to keep the comp or page design.
I will do a post as we get closer to the event asking for blog entries for the makeover session.
Other speaker news
- Susie Gardner, author of Blogging for Dummies, will be leading a session
- Lena West, a favorite from last year, will be on a panel about Social Networking
- Katia Adams of 1800Flowers will be on the "What Advertisers Want" panel
It is shaping up to be a great event. Make sure you save up and put in for vacation time! You can find a roommate on the boards.
If you are interested in speaking on the Fab4 panel (and getting a nice $250 spiff) please make sure to submit your video.

You may have caught one of my posts earlier this week about how much SXSW attendees were diggin' our schwag. Well on the last day of the show a gentleman walked up to our booth and handed us a drawing (see below). He had visited us the day prior, and picked-up one of our famous 13" pens. Apparently he took it home to his daughter and she drew the picture with the pen. She had her father bring the drawing back to the show the next day to give to us! Of course I had to share it with you.

Thanks, Sarah! We love stuff like this!
Want your own giant PayPerPost pen? No problem. Click here or head on over to PayPerPostGear.com homepage.

Today I linked back up with Loren Feldman of 1938Media.com for a little "interview". We talked about SXSW, our good friend Jeremy of Shoemoney.com, Travis showing up on Valleywag last night and a few other surprises.
I am really excited to announce that Loren will be a speaker at this years IZEAFest in Orlando. Loren is an outspoken guy and has sure had his fair share of controversy (haven't we all), but he is the real deal and certainly knows what he is doing.More great speakers to come!
