Archive: Blogger's Choice Awards

The June "Blogger for a Cause" is Biscuit's Blog. This blog is actually the official blog for the British Columbia SPCA, and its goal is to raise awareness of and provide treatment for injured homeless and wild animals. They do this primarily through the BC SPCA Biscuit Fund. And it all started with...well, Biscuit. That's him over there on the right. Cute, huh?!
Here's a little history about how the blog got started:
“Biscuit” was a stray, wandering the streets when he was repeatedly stabbed by an unknown person and left for dead. The small dog managed to pull himself half-dead into a nearby garage, where he was found by a family and rushed to a veterinarian.
Biscuit was transferred to the BCSPCA, where he was nursed back to health in a safe, nurturing environment. Despite his ordeal, Biscuit harbours no grudges. He is friendly and gentle, and thriving in the care of his new loving family!
We created the Biscuit Fund to help care for many other sick and injured homeless animals like Biscuit.
Almost everyone can identify with the love of animals, even if one doesn't have a pet. So when I recently ran across this "Best Charity Blog" at BloggersChoiceAwards.com (like how I found last month's blog) I knew I'd found my June feature.
The blog posts on "Biscuit's Blog" are told from the perspective(s) of the animals in need, and this is one of the reasons the blog was selected to be featured this month. It's a very creative, touching way to position a sensitive subject.
Here's a screenshot of the current homepage of the site. To see more click here.

Don't forget that if you know of a blogger who uses their blog as a platform to raise awareness about a certain topic or issue, you can share it with us. Simply send us the url of the blog and why you think they should be featured to charity[at]izea[dot]com. While you're at it, why not nominate them for a Blogger's Choice Award?

As mentioned last week on the blog, we've now added Topics to the Ticketing System. So next time you reach out to Customer Love with a Ticket, you will be asked to choose a Topic and related Details from drop downs offered to you.
We're always looking for ways to expedite & improve our responses to your questions, concerns and suggestions. This is one more step toward that goal. Long term this will also help us measure where our customers are running into the biggest questions or delays, allowing us to provide more tools to help ensure your time on PayPerPost & all other IZEA sites is fun and productive!
Thanks for the tickets you send us - they're a great chance for us to listen, help, offer guidance, and best of all - connect with our customers one-on-one!
Well, maybe not us, specifically, but she sure does love her Blogger's Choice Award for "Best Celebrity Blogger" (http://rosie.com/blog). Week-before-last I mailed out Rosie's award, along with some cool new IZEA swag (t-shirts, koozies, mouse pads, and buttons), and apparently she received it. Check-it-out here.
Notice that cheeky photo of myself and Britt? I just had to include it. And I have to thank Rosie's press people in being so enthusiastic about the award, and being so helpful to me in getting Rosie's swag to her. (Now let's convince them to get Rosie to emcee our awards ceremony next year!)
The Bloggers Choice Awards are bigger than I ever imagined they would be. Almost 90k people have cast 230k+ votes so far and next week the competition heats up as we move into the finals. From everything I have found in my research this is hands down the biggest blog awards competition out there. The winners of these awards have something to be proud of and I am happy to see a few Posties in contention for various categories.
For those of you who missed it in the previous post about the Blog America Tour we will be holding the BCA ceremony at Tao in Las Vegas. Britt tried to get me to look at the website a week or so ago but I had my hands full at the time. Now that I have I must says she did an awesome job picking the venue, it looks amazing. You will feel like a blog celebrity.
I am not sure about the exact dress code (look for something on that soon from Brit) but I do want to say that I want this to be a classy event. I am not taking tuxedos and evening gowns, but not shorts and t-shirts either. I love my flip flops as much as the next blogger, but lets save those for poolside the next morning. Just look at this place!
There are a couple of discussions happening on the boards you might want to check out:
Hotel Poll for Postie Con Las Vegas!
Bloggers in Front of the Bellagio Water Fountains
BlogWorld, Postie Con, and BCA's Question
As we get closer to the event expect to see a series of emails with more information and answers to commonly asked questions. I hope to see many of you on my way out to Vegas, you guys are the reason I am driving instead of flying.
